Racking Inspection Courses

Our rack safety awareness course for warehouse personnel allows internal staff to complete ‘regular visual inspections’ of the racking systems at your premises. The course covers an in-depth look at the need for rack safety inspections, how to conduct a risk assessment of the storage equipment in your workplace and what actions to take on completion. It references the SEMA codes of practice and industry standards and reviews current legislation and how this translates into day to day operational activities.

The course is delivered by SEMA approved racking inspectors and delegates successfully completing this one day course will have the necessary knowledge to complete their own internal inspections and will be awarded a Certificate of attendance which is valid for 3 years.

We cover the whole of the UK and can visit your warehouse to complete this one day course.

We recommend that, if possible, we attend your workplace to hold this course as this allows us to ensure that our course content is relevant to the racking systems within your warehouse & we will include a ‘mini racking inspection’ of your racking in order to provide an important and useful practical element & discuss how to assess & categorise any damage or faults that may be present.

Who Should Attend?

It is vital that the forklift drivers and operators of any other Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) that operate in and around the racking systems within your warehouse attend this course as these types of machinery are the most likely cause of damage to racking.

The forklift drivers & operators of other MHE are often best placed to carry out the internal inspections as they are in regular contact with the racking systems and most likely to be aware of existing damage or faults. Raising their awareness of the importance for rack safety will often reduce current levels of damage.

Warehouse management and/or Health & Safety personnel equally benefit from this course and will often take on the role of the PRRS (Person Responsible for Racking Safety). HSE guidance states that:

“Any damage found should be immediately reported to the PRRS” & “The PRRS should determine the frequency of internal inspections based on risk assessment of the warehouse operating conditions”

Delegates successfully completing this one day course will have the necessary knowledge to complete their own internal inspections and will be awarded a Certificate of attendance which is valid for 3 years.
